The Arizona Depatement of Education has been working with teachers, professors and community groups to revise the Arizona Social Standards over the last year. These revisions strengthen the grade-by-grade articulation of the existing standards, especially in the elementary grades. Civics is one of the five social studies strands, and is addressed by many of the key concepts and performance objectives throughout the revised standards.

The State Board of Education adopted the revised Social Studies standards at their September 26th meeting.
